Tangy, sweet and kinda salty.  A salty dog is a cocktail of gin, or vodka, and grapefruit juice, served in a highball glass with a salted rim. The salt is the only difference between a salty dog and a greyhound. Vodka may be used as a substitute for gin; nevertheless, it is historically a gin drink.

Ingredients:

  • 3 1/3 oz. Grapefruit juice
  • 1 1/3 oz. Vodka or Gin
  • Margarita salt or Kosher salt (for rim of glass)
  • High ball glass -for drinkware

How to make it:

  1. Shake vodka (or gin) and grapefruit juice in cocktail shaker. Pour into a salt-rimmed highball glass.
